Taylor Bujaczek, Program Manager

As a Program Manager with the SWAMP Lab, Taylor Bujaczek oversees occupational health and safety for the SWAMP Lab for both lab and fieldwork. Taylor organizes, leads, and supervises students and staff in field campaigns for all projects and adapts to dynamic safety and site requirements for the group’s various sponsors. Taylor oversees all laboratory management, training programs, and operations of the SWAMP lab ultraclean facility. Taylor collaborates with SWAMP team members in project management for all research projects, performs statistical analysis, writes grants and reports, and writes and submits original articles for publication. Taylor also oversees SWAMP lab financial, research, and human resource administration and acts as Principal Officer for SWAMP Lab Access, Community, and Belonging.

Taylor holds a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from MacEwan University and is a part-time student at the University of Alberta obtaining her Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. She has a wide array of scientific interests including fish/freshwater ecology and health, statistics, biomagnification, trace element analysis, and ecotoxicology. She has researched the fate of microplastic pollution in aquatic habitats from urban settings. As an undergraduate, Taylor received the Dean’s Medal for Academic Excellence for MacEwan’s Faculty of Arts and Science, the highest academic honour in the faculty.

Taylor has experience in emergency spill water quality monitoring, fish salvages, and wildlife and vegetation surveying for pre-disturbance assessments. She has also performed water quality monitoring on projects with the energy and industrial sector. In her spare time, Taylor enjoys weightlifting, indoor/outdoor rock climbing, art, and sewing.
